FISH THE PUBLIC WATERS OF THE PECOS RIVER Pecos, New Mexico area
DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS: From Santa Fe, NM take I 25 N to Pecos-Glorieta Pass - exit #299. Follow Rt. 50 to Pecos. Warning: This road is very well patrolled – it is recommended that you use your cruise control. At the intersection, turn L on Rt. 3. This Route follows the river. There are many spots to stop off to fish public water. This is about 45 – 55 minute drive from Las Campanas.
PRIVATE WATER: Private water is fenced off and posted. Please respect all of the landowners along the Pecos by staying off the posted private waters.
ABOUT THE PECOS RIVER: This river flows due south out of the basin of the Pecos Wilderness. It is stocked with rainbow and brown trout. For a truly successful experience on your river trip go to The Reel Life Web site www.reellifesantafe.com for the daily update. Better yet, stop off at The Reel Life located at 500 Montezuma Street in the Sambusco Market Center for first hand information and to pick us some killer flies. This river gets crowded with fly fishers and campers after school is out, especially during the weekends.
POACHING: Please report anyone over harvesting fish or poaching to New Mexico Game and Fish at 1-800-243-4263. DO NOT be confrontational with poachers.
